Welcome! I am a 46 yr old female who suffered with a Slikding Hiatal Hernia for years before it was finally discoverd, I was having what I described as "Stomach Spasms" as the top of my stomach that just kept getting worse, I would have them with any activity walking, climbing stairs was horrible, vacuming, etc. then it got to where I would get up in the morning and have one before I even did anything. This March, it finally showed up on an upper GI and I had surgery April 29th to repair it. Was having a lot of GERD too. I had to be persistant with my doctor..he was stumped for awhile as to what could be the problem. The persistance paid off. Dont give up. I spent too much time being miserable. You don't need to suffer either. The procedure I had is called a "Laprascopic Nissen. Hope this helped !

    • Close Hiatal Hernia

I have been suffering from a whole range of health problems for over a year. Ear problems, back pain, breast pain, arm pain, nausea, diarrhoea, breathlessness etc etc. Have had a variety of diagnoses, and at one point was told to go away and stop worrying. Last month I was diagnosed with a 3.5cm Hiatus Hernia. I'm taking tablets, but am keen to cure/ease the symptoms through lifestyle changes, and would like any advice. Thanks :)

      Treatments

      Antacids Somewhat Helpful
Initially they took the edge off my symptoms, but as time has gone they don't seem to work.
      Prevacid Somewhat Helpful
The breathlessness has eased, but I still get terrible burning pains in my back, and feel nauseous. Side effects: I felt very lethargic to start with.
