    • About Me

I am living for the past ten years in Thailand, but I am originally from Germany. My passion and profession is diving, but I recently decided to move into the real estate business. It is just that I see my lovely two daughters and my beautiful Japanese wife more often. But my real love is still scuba. (",) Oh, of course. How can I forget? I am amputated on my left leg, below the knee because of a car accident.

    • I’m With You

      From Edalji August 2

Hi there! I was wondering what kind of foot and ankle you have for swimming? I just had my right leg amputated below the knee on 17 July, and can't wait to get back in the water! Any suggestions would be helpful. So sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear that you are still diving though!

12 November 2004. I was sitting in a minibus on the way to Myanmar when a Water truck came out of control down the hill and hit us. I was badly injured but conscious. It took 11 hours to get to a surgeon, the trauma & infection was so bad they had to take off my left leg below the knee. My knee was saved by hyperbaric oxygen treatment. 6 month later I was back diving.

      Treatments

      Prosthetic Device Working / Worked
Prostheses for lower limb amputation are so far advanced now, that walking with them doesn't feel & look any different to a non amputated person. I have as well a prostheses for diving where you can flip the ankle in between walking and swimming.
