Close MRSA
Infected cyst on the back and pimple on the thigh. Abscess on the back lanced and drained. 7 days Tetracycline, 9 days of Bactrim. The abscess healed nicely. Unfortunately lesion on the thigh grows. Altabax helped initially. Biopsy culture: Coagulase-negative taphylococcus species. Susceptibility test report resistance to: Amoxicline, Bactrim, Oxacillin, Penicillin, Cefazolin, Erythromicin. More red pimples on buttocks. Wife and 14 year old son got some pimples too. ID Doc now thinks it’s MRSA.
Treatments
- Bactrim DS Somewhat Helpful
- Worked for the abscess on my back. Not for the lesion on my thigh.
- Bactroban Not Working
- I used it 1 year ago for cuts and pimples. It was working. Not anymore for this new infection.
- Hibiclens Too Soon to Tell
- Zyvox Considering
- Prescribed. Not used yet. Concerned about side effects.
