Close Chronic Pain
Almost 30 yrs of chronic pancreatitis from pancreas divisum, a birth defect. 2 sphincteroplasties, last one with a stent that later broke in two. Last surgery they attached my pancreas to my small intestine. Helped with blockages but damage was already done. Tried rehab many times, no drugs, thought I would die, finally went on Methadone, over 20 yrs but my tolerance is crazy high, so I am thinking of trying fentanyl patches to get my meth dose down. Lymes, low bld sugar and heart issues.
Treatments
- Acupressure Somewhat Helpful
- massage and acupressure combined helps me a lot esp. with sacroileitis (literal pain in the butt!)
- Chiropractic Adjustment Somewhat Helpful
- works in a general sense, like eating right, exercise, etc, but not paid for by insurance for me.
- Flexeril Not Working
- just made me tired
- Heat Working / Worked
- works with neck pain for me and sometimes other pain.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- Just starting to make a concerted effort at this. I think it will help me relax and focus.
- Methadone Working / Worked
- saved my life. I was ready to do myself in when I called my pain counselor and said I was at the end of the line. I had'nt wanted to take Methadone as I was looking at it as a moral isssue, but it controls the pain to where I can function and work, have a life. You HAVE to have an experienced pain med doctor who you can trust not to cut you off or drop your dose too quickly. Then, you have to stay honest with them and keep a good working relationship.
- Morphine Not Working
- For some reason, Morphine does not relieve pain for me. Every surgery, they'd insist on just that, and I'd have to wait four to six hrs before I could talk them into something else.
- Naproxen Not Working
- no pain relief
- Nerve Blocks Not Working
- Hurt like heck and they never seem to get it in the right place.
- Neurontin Considering
- A friend suggested it might work for me. She likes it.
- Oxycodone Not Working
- tore up my stomach
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- works great for sacroileitis and other joint, muscle issues that improve with stretching.
- TENS Not Working
- Used it many years ago and didn't help at all. Might work for surface pain, I don't know if it works for deep pain. Not for me.
- Provigil Working / Worked
- Worked well but insurance giving me a hard time. Trying to get it covered through my doctor need special reason because it is so expensive they dont want to cover it.
Close Pancreatitis
Chronic pancreatitis over 25 yrs from birth defect pancreas divisum and three surgeries. Tolerant of opiods, so Methadone has worked best, but thinking of trying fentanyl patch to lower meth dosage if my dr says ok. Also may ask about neurontin. Recent: Lyme's, arrythmias, hypoglycemia and hypertension.
Treatments
- Demerol Working / Worked
- worked too well. became tolerant quickly and it is very addictive due to the euphoria it gives you. After trying without any painkillers, had to start on Methadone to control pain and this works.
- Pancrelipase Somewhat Helpful
- Nothing amazing noted. It can help keep the pancreas more at rest than without it.
