12 days and counting (afraid as well) Mood
Wednesday, June 3, 2009 | An Anxious story
Well, my robotic hysterectomy is going to be in 12 days. At first, I wasn't worried at all. But now I'm so afraid! I keep reading posts about having pain weeks after the operation, and now I'm wondering "did I make the right choice?".

    Hi Heather!!
Please don't be afraid - it is now 2 weeks after my DaVinci hysterectomy and I am feeling great! I felt great the first week after the surgery. I'm even going back to the gym tomorrow and going to spin class. I've been driving for the past week and doing everything I normally do. The only pain I had was uncomfortable gas pains that came after about 4 days. I took some senna pills and now I'm fine. You can hardly even see my surgical holes any longer - they just look like little scratches. I did start taking the bio-identical hormones the day after surgery so I don't know if that has helped but honestly I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I would suggest walking as much as you can starting the day after surgery. Just start by walking around the house when you go home, then nap, then walk again. It really helped.

Laura, THANK YOU!!! I needed a positive response!!!! I do yoga so I hope I"ll be able to get back to that at least a couple weeks after the hysterectomy. I do have my mother who says she'll help w/ the kids so that's good! Thanks again for the advice, it helped!!!!!

ya know what i keep telling myself???? if you go into this with the positive attitude, you will have a positive outcome.. it only makes sense!! nothing will go wrong....these doctors are trained to save our lives and know what they are doing, they want us to feel better thats why they are in this field. so even if you end up having more pain then some, do not worry it WILL go away!!! you will be in such better shape after anyhow just because the bleeding will stop!!!!:)
