Close MRSA

I went in tot he hospital for routine surgery in April, 2007 and was almost dead two weeks later with MRSA deep surgical site infection and sepsis, DIC, collapsed lungs, liver failure. I'm glad to be alive.

Treatments

Bactrim DS Working / Worked

The ID doc had me on a triple does until the diarrhea got so bad that he had to stop it.

Bactroban Considering

I wish that someone would treat me with this, but the docs seem to think that it isn't worth it.

Clindamycin Working / Worked

They pumped me full of just about everything - don't know if it helped or not, but eventually the infection was brought under control.

Hibiclens Working / Worked

I used it for several weeks after being released from the hospital. No side effects. I did not have MRSA skin infection - mine was internal, but I thought that it would be best to use it because obviously I was very contagious with a systmemic infection.

Vancomycin Working / Worked

It worked, I am alive.

Washing Working / Worked

I'm obseccive now that I have had this infection and don't let HCP touch me without washing their hands.

Zyvox Working / Worked

It worked, but almost killed me in the process. I got Serotonin Syndrome from this drug - apparently it was due to take it along with Oxycodone while I was in the hospital and at home.

Questran Working / Worked

Works pretty well when they suspect C. diff. it binds toxins A and B. Should be used with caution and with a probiotic like Florastor. My GI put me on it and it saved my life.
