It was my birthday today. My husband accompanied me on 2 walks with the dogs today. My husband and son had a table full of presents and my husband even baked me a mocha and chocolate cake. It was the best cake that I had ever eaten! Sad to say this, since I really think that I am a great baker.
My daughter called to wish me a happy birthday - she is away at university and was actually working the California State Fair today (she does vet checks for the animal entries and delivers animal babies at the animal nursery - an exhibit at the fair).
We tried to go to the beach today, but the crowds were so bad, that we couldn't find any parking. The ocean was so blue and the temperature was a perfect 75 degrees. Unfortunately, we just drove and drove, and never did stop.
I guess I will be really happy for each birthday that I make from now on. My doctor lowered my survival rate when I saw her on Friday. She said I have a 50% chance to make it 5 years. At first, she had said 60% chance. Anyway, it's dropping...

See I cant stay away from this site Jane!!! Happy Happy Birthday!! Your weather sounds like ours....it was 25 cel. here which is close to 80 deg F....sunny and beautiful...some of the leaves have started to change colour...gorgeous! We dont have the ocean but we live close to Lake Ontario..
Jane why would your doctor say that to you when you are doing so well ??

Hi Jackie -
My doctor said that I was "powering through" the treatment and doing really well, but when I told her that I was trying to make a decision about retiring - I was asking her if I would feel as good as I do now or would I even improve and feel better . . . that's when she threw out the new statistic. She said that I should get my affairs in order and maybe just have a good time . . . get my bucket list going . . . It really threw me for a loop. My cancer did go to my lympth nodes, so I guess I have to be realistic. My doctor said that I was in remission and would be checked every 3 months after this next chemo.
I guess we'll have to wait and see. I intend to keep up the exercise and yoga, etc. I feel great but I have decided to retire and not go back to work.
Thanks for checking in!
Jane

Jane,
I'm happy you had a wonderful birthday and I wanted to say that I think that if you are retiring, that's great! You live in a beautiful area and it will be nice to enjoy it everyday!! How I look at the diagnosis your doctoer gave you is this....if there are 10 people in a room with Cancer 5 of those people are going to be fine. You are going to beat those odds...you have an amazing spirit and outlook and you are keeping healthy with exercise and meditation. Talk to Amy about her friend's sister who had 3C grade 3 Uterine Cancer...SEVENTEEN years ago!! There is also another woman on the Uterine Cancer sujpport page who is an even longer surviivor than that...you can find her on there. Jane I know you are goiing to be one of those five in that room!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep being strong my friend!
Jackie :)
