I had a Lap done in July of this year....like you I was terrified..I have never had stitches..broken bones or anything...it was just a day surgery for me and I knew I had to get it done to improve the chances of having a baby :)
I was in and out of the hospital on the same day....they took great care of me
I wish you all the best of luck and hope your dream comes true soon!!! :)

hi hun,
i had a lap last year for endometriosis and its not that bad. you arrive 2 hours before to get prepped for surgery, the actual surgery usually takes 30-45 minutes sometimes longer depending on what they do and find, they make 3 tiny incisions, 1 in your belly button and 2 near your pelvic area, they inflate your stomach with gas(will cause shoulder pain) after surgery i was kind of nauseous but better within a few hours, i was back on my feet in 3 days(depends on the person) and didnt need any pain meds until my period came the very next day lol. btw what are you getting your lap for? anyways if you have any questions send me a message. im getting my 2nd lap in a month.
good luck with your surgery

I had my very first lap about 4 weeks ago and I was SO terrified too. But you have absolutely nothing to worry about, its quick, about 30 - 45 minutes, and you'll be waking up in no time =] They just make a couple little incisions and fill you up with some gas and look around. They'll probably give you some pain pills too because the first couple days you will be very sore, because they were poking around inside you and all, and the gas they filled you up with makes you feel soo big! It will probably go up into your shoulder and thats pretty uncomfortable. I didn't even feel nauseous or anything when I woke up, I wasn't in pain, I was just so extremely tired! But just have some stuff to keep yourself occupied while you're laying around. Plus sleeping is the best thing in the world after that procedure! =] But you will be fine hun, I promise. Just take it easy and this will all be over faster than you know. You're gonna do great =]

Thanks eveyone for the wonderful words of encouragement! I am having the LAP bc DH's count is over 200 million after the wash and we have done 4 IUI's (non-successful)..3 with Femara and Ovidrel and 1 with injectables. My RE thinks it could be something going on with me since things arent working. He said I could choose to continue to do IUI's but but his clinical opionion would be to have the LAP. DH and I talked about things and decided that since we only have 4 more IUI's to use before insurance wont pay anymore/ and the cost of injectaables that we should go ahead and do this to clear me now! In the past we did not do a LAP b/c my husbands count WAS only 3.6 million before put on the meds, but now since there is no problem with him our RE thinks it could be me also!...Thanks for caring girls!

Hey- I had my LAP done last November. I was super scared and I have had surgerys before but was still really nervous and all went well. My RE was looking for endometriosis and scar tissue and I knew he would find something but after the surgery and I woke up the RE told me he didnt find anything :( But it went well. THe only pain I had afterwards was the gas it was so painful I almost cried at night but finally after a few days it went away :) Good Luck! Baby Dust Your way!!
