Hi Cathy and welcome to our group.. So sorry to read about your mom. It's a very scary and traumatic diagnosis to have and the initial reaction is very difficult to cope with. I don't know when your mother found out about this, but, it takes time to make any sense of this. I think all of us here would agree that none of this disease is as scary as we first imagine. It might help to reassure your mother that we are all survivors here.. one lady had stage4 OC and that was over 20 years ago, with no recurrence. I have been dealing with this for over nine years now and was free for seven years after chemotherapy. Chemo is no walk in the park.. but it is do-able and we are soon over it and able to recover from it. It helps loads to have the support of women, such as we have here.. Ovarian cancer is treated more like a chronic illness than a death sentence these days.. In nine years the only physical symptoms I've had from cancer are due to the chemotherapy treatment.. and we recover form these.. also there are excellent meds around now to help us deal with them. It's not all doom and gloom. Your mother could give it a try and see how she feels on it.. but really the best way to make such a decision is to gather the information that can help you to do that. We are all here for you and your mom with lots of first hand experience, advice, support, encouragement and friendship to share.. I hope this might be helpful to you.. please let us know how things go and let your mom know I am here for her and will give you my email address if she would like to email someone who has been through this.. Big hug to you both.. Inka
