    • About Me

I'm very happily married, second time around. I have two grown up children, one of whom is estranged. I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact that things are never going to be ok between us - a huge leap forward, but healthier to acknowledge it that constantly grieve.

    • High Five

      From EagleMom November 4

A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges

Back in September, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

      'Ms.. Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

      'No,' she said.

      'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) War Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall... By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned..

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

By the way, this is a true story.

Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by War Veterans.

      By T. D. Jakes:

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The Bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us, for had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go, and it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over.

Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye... It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.

And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you
      need ....
      LET IT GO!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ......
      LET IT GO!!!

If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth.......................... LET IT GO!!!
      If someone has angered you.................
      LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge.....
      LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction...........
      LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or
      talents………………
      LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude............... LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better..............
      LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him.........................
      LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed ......................
      LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying 'take your hands off of it,'
      then you need to……….
      LET IT GO!!!
      The Battle is the Lord's!

    • Funny Face

      From EagleMom October 27

A blonde city girl named Amy marries a Colorado rancher. One morning, on his way out to check on the cows, the rancher says to Amy, 'The insemination man is coming over to impregnate one of our cows today, so I drove a nail into the 2 by 4 just above where the cow's stall is in the barn. Please show him where the cow is when he gets here, OK?'

The rancher leaves for the fields. After a while, the artificial insemination man arrives and knocks on the front door. Amy takes him down to the barn. They walk along the row of cows and when Amy sees the nail, she tells him, 'This is the one right here.'

The man, assuming he is dealing with an air head blonde, asks, 'Tell me lady, 'cause I'm dying to know, how would YOU know that this is the right cow to be bred?'

'Simple,' she says, 'by the nail that's over its stall.'

Laughing rudely at her, the man asks, 'And what, pray tell, is the nail for?'

As the blonde turns to walk away, she says sweetly over her shoulder,

'I guess it's to hang your pants on.'

(Ain't it nice to see the blonde win once in awhile?)

I didn't like being on Seroxat, and, apparently like others, had a nightmare (literally) experience of coming off it.
      Meditation Too Soon to Tell
A Harley Street specialist recommended this to me last month. Ill try anything!
    • Close Anxiety

I suffer from GAD and social Phobia. I've had it for most of my life. I've recently been to rten weeks of CBT for this, and it has definately helped, and I'm now on beta-blockers, working far better for me than anti-depressants! (or psychiatrists!!)

      Treatments

Taught this by the Community Psyciatric Nurse. Helps in the really bad times, or specific trigers situations.

      Celexa Somewhat Helpful
Worked in some ways to buoy me up, but I couldn't sleep on it, so had to come off it.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
Made a huge difference to my thinking. Well worth it-grab it if you get the opportunity! (Hard to go through tho)
      Paxil Not Working
Nightmare to be on, and even worse to come off. Never again.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Only here because of one-to-one CPN counselling and Cognitive Group Behavioural Therapy
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
Needs my husband and best freind for support-and they are always there for me.
      Writing Working / Worked

      Valium Working / Worked
2mg as required. Helps on the darkest days.
    • Open Endometriosis

I had pelvic pain for years and fianlly I had a hysterectomy at age 27, many years ago. It made a big improvement, but still have pain from time to time.

      Treatments
