We got good news for the first time ever with our oncologist!! My husband's lesions are all decreasing in size! This after just two months on Afinitor, the new drug for Renal Cell Carcinoma. This after Sutent and Nexavar did nothing for him in the last 16 months. Shrinkage! More than we hoped for , to be honest. We were hoping for no growth at all, so to hear "decreasing", well, it was a joyful time. The mass in his psosas muscle is all but dead tissue, just a thin wall that shows up on the MRI. I hope it's all dead by the next scan.
He was a little subdued at first. I think he's just heard so many bad things that he really wasn't expecting good stuff. It sank in as the day went on, however, and I think he's just as happy as I am now.
I've got to go off to bed, though. I just wanted to let all of you know what was going on. I had to share!!
