Hi, My name is Diane, I'm from Ohio, USA. I have a granddaughter with CHD and I would love to talk more with you. I'm also a nurse so I can give you more info and answer questions. With most of the CHD kids, their surgeries have to be revised as they grow. An early surgery, like when they are a newbown, is done on heart about the size of an acorn. The heart grows, but the repairs don't grow with them. The reason the doctors don't want him doing a lot of contact sports, like football is because his breastbone has been sawed in half and though it is healed, it is still easier to break. hi im a mammy of two boys my 8 year old has chds he had coraration of aorta repair at 4 days old then at 6 months had a ballon dilation to strethc out his valve then last year had open heart for subaortic stenosis he is a great boy also has a thing called cycical vomiting syndrome which is unexplained vomiting up to 20 times an hour it has turned into migraines
