    • Prayer

      From PumpkinPatch October 11

I do not have all the answers for you. These problems can be complicated to solve and really take our best mommy efforts. My only advice is to pray for wisdom in parenting. Each child is different, and the longer it takes you to figure out this guy the more control he will hve over your life. I understand ruining the whole night - kids do that sometimes. But really shouldn't be allowed to get that far. I believe your son has developed some habits that have worked for him, so changing it is going to take looking HARD at your parenting skills. I learned early on my older son is 'melancholoy' in his temperament. The hardest temperament to parent. But I never stopped reading and trying things b/c my goal is to get him raised, successful, and to love him from a distance. I can't stop working now to make that happen or he'll be in my house forever haha. I believe we work our hardest at parenting in the beginning. If we don't OMG teenage years will be horrible.

Best wishes to you, unraveling all this. I wish I knew the book I read on child's temperaments. It was very helpful. It was a married couple that published it long ago. They had a lot of kids, and the toughest one was the melancholy one. I had another son and I am wiser and he is easier. Or am I just wiser? That is just the question of my day. I just don't let his behavior GET out of control. I let him know what pleases Mommy and he likes to please me so far.

I KNOW it is tough, been there, am still there in many ways.

PRAY and READ and WATCH a lot of TV shows about parenting from experts. IT WORKS!!
