Post-Surgery UPDATE- FINALLY!
Hi Everyone! Thank you all so much for all the emails and well wishes.
Overall my first surgery went well. The surgeon was able to …
After almost 21 years of living with ulcerative colitis since I was 4 years old, trying numerous diets, herbal remedies, natural healing methods, and every medication in the book including trials, surgery is going to be my saving grace. I feel blessed that this is a solid and straightforward decision for me and I can not wait to have my life NOT revolve around bathrooms, pills, shots, and weird diets and waiting for that next cramp to double me over. I suppose my biggest struggle is that since I was a kid, this is the very thing that we (my parents, doctors and I) have tried so hard to avoid, so changing my attitude towards it has been a bit challenging, but I do believe that this is going to be a blessing. I am entirely at peace with my decision and enjoying the realization of what is important in life, the fact that this disease cannot take that away from me, and that I'm going to get my life back. The morning after my surgery I want a hazelnut coffee with vanilla cream and sugar. And I can't wait to eat a salad with some oily, fattening ranch dressing. Amen!

Had colitis since I was 4- almost 21 years now. I have no more options and am having severe side effects from prednisone and as a result I will be having surgery on october 7th to remove my entire colon. I'm strangely looking very forward to it and it can't get here fast enough as far as I'm concerned.
