Hi Elaine. Welcome to DS! You'll meet a lot of wonderful people on here and get a lot of information. Read my journal if you need any info on good docs in Boston for your pancreatitis. I just had surgery there and they helped me soooo much. Take care. Jenny

Hi Elaine, Yes, I know how you feel that all you want to do isget back to normal, I am going on two years now since I was dx. I have auto immune chronic pancreatitis, I had a whipple procedure in Sept 07, Sometimes I feel better than other times. After reading on the different groups on the computer, I don't think mine is as bad as some people on here, but when I am in pain I seem to forget that statement.. Did they give you any medicine to help you, like emzymes, cortidone, probably gave you same pain meds too. I am on Imuran and they just upped by dosage to 150 mg a day, and I think it is helping with the pain, now. I am on emzymes 6 tabs with main meals and 4 tabs with snacks. That seems to help too. Your best bet to try eat is jello, mashed potatoes, scramble eggs, oatmeal, soft foods that are low in fats. That will help alot. They also have me on over the counter vitamins, because my body doesn't want to hold on to the vitamins. I am on pain meds too. 15 mg oxycondone 2x daily, and if necessary I have other meds for break through pain. I don't like being on the medicines so I try every once in a while to cut down on the pain meds. My doctor yells at me but I am so afraid of getting addictive on them. I am 52 years old and don't want to start something like that at this age. My doctor laughs at me, but I read on here how people get addictive to the meds and it scares me. Please keep me informed after your doctors appointment in May. In the mean time I will pray for you.
