    • Close Migraine Headaches

I am 36 and currently having daily migraines with mostly right-sided numbness, phonophobia (sound causes migraine or causes pain during migraine), photophobia (light causes migraine or causes pain during migraine), and sometimes smells trigger migraines. I am currently taking Nadolol 80 mg twice daily, Epilm 500 mg twice daily, and Maxalt on occasion all for migraines.

      Treatments

      Aspirin Working / Worked
When I have nothing else, aspirin seems to help enough to let me sleep. The best is the kind that dissolves in water. It starts working almost immediately and takes edge of head pain. Probably also helps thin blood, making pressure less in head.
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
Some red wines like Syrahs give me morning migraines.
      Caffeine Working / Worked
Caffiene seems to help make me functional when I am having a migraine but have to work and can't lie down.
      Imitrex Working / Worked
I have used in past. Stopped using because it made me sleepy. But recently a doctor wanted me to try again. He said, "You are supposed to be sleepy when a migraine ends. That means its working."
      Maxalt Working / Worked
Helps if taken early on. Don't take often as it can cause rebound headaches. My docor said twice a week is okay.
      Tylenol Not Working
      Worthless.
      Corgard Somewhat Helpful
I started taking 40 mg. twice daily. Now taking 80 mg. twice daily. Seems to take edge of headaches however all other symptoms are still there. Doctor said this medication does not stop migraines but gets you to stop feeling the pain in your head. So its a betablocker not a cure. Worth trying.
