My weight loss journey began in Late May 2008.
When I came to TexASS in Jan 2001, I was 49 y/o, 108 pounds, 5 foot tall. I had been that weight/height for the majority of my adult life, give or take a few pounds.
In May 2006, I got sick. Not having insurance, the pay as you go clinic I went to put me on an antidepressant. I wasn't depressed, I kept falling asleep, even standing up, sometimes driving, always at a table, or the computer. I was also putting on weight, although my diet hadn't changed. Not being much of a pill taker, I quickly discarded the anti depressants, as they made no difference.
In Feb 2007, I finally crashed and burned, ended up in the hospital, lost 12 pounds overnight in fluid and was diagnosed with high blood pressure, COPD, CHF, and a couple of other "lung" issues. My mother died of CHF when she was 60 y/o. Today I am 57. My bio father died of bronchial cancer at 77 (thank you Neut) I left the hospital weighing 130 pounds.
I manged to maintain that wight although never being able to lose any of it. In Feb 2009, I resigned from my job, sat on my butt and quickly gained almost another 30 pounds, making my highest weight 158. Now 158 on a 5 foot tall bear is a LOT of extra meat to be hauling around (for ME). I can't breath remember and every extra pound I lug around adds to my not breathing (I'm convinced)
So in late May 2009, I said....this is enough!! You've got to lose some of this weight. You're gonna die anyway, but at least go out skinny, so they don't need so much fuel for the fire!!
OK...Fast forward to today. I'm still 5 feet tall, medium frame, my hair is shorter and grayer ( I thought cutting my waist length hair would lose me a few pounds) ....But.....I'm now down to 125 pounds. I am in line with my BMI and I have lost a total of 36.5 inches. My ultimate goal is to get to 110. I have a waist again, my butt is smaller and the baby fat is disappearing.
I still have all my health "issues" losing weight isn't going to make them go away, but it will make the fire a little smaller:):)
