Hi, I have been laying low so I haven't seen your hugs but thank you. I am half way thru my chemo. Bald and in a lot of pain. I am back at work the 2 weeks after chemo and it is hard. Chemo blows but we are changing some of my stuff to hopefully make it easier. I love the fall....so easy to reflect on things this time of year. So I am blessed and trying to be less stressed. How is your life treating you?

    Belcat (10/24/09)

    Hi, Chris.
I'm glad to hear you have that other cat. Let me know what kind you adopt, if you find it this weekend.

Sister adopted # 7 on Wednesday. An unneutered Himalayan which she has named Oscar. His person died. Her family put the cat out to fend for himself. Boo hiss to them. Neighbors fed him for a while. A couple of sisters trapped him in their garage, called Orphans of the Storm to find him a new home. Sister won out over some other folks. Orphans will help with the cost of neutering. The cat is filthy, has fleas, probably ear mites, and sister found 3 ticks, too. But he does seem to be calming down. She gave him his own room until the vet sees him, at least. He has a very loud purr motor.

As for me, I am past the halfway point with radiation. The doc said they'd keep up same routine--shooting from lower left, then upper right. Then do some, I guess more directed to the incision area. I figure I'll be done sometime the first week of November.

Nurse told me my skin is holding up well. I have noticed that side is warmer to touch than right side. There is some pinkness and itching. I am using Yarrow tea to soothe the skin, and a foot powder to stop the itch. They did give me a tube of RadiaGel, but I prefer the herbal route as long as it keeps working. I have Herceptin treatment on Thursday, so no radiation that day.

My arm must be healing okay. I am able to--now don't laugh--get my pants down and up with both hands again. Just a week ago, that effort was painful. I manage to wash dishes, peel and chop potatos and carrots. I'm curious how I'll make out making stuffed peppers next week. The two biggest challenges are getting in and out of the hospital van, and getting up from my TV chair. The cast comes off in two weeks, then I gather I have to wear that painful brace again for a while. The bone doc said to bring it when I go to have cast removed.

Still no word from Carolyn (Cancer Survivor)? None here.

Well, good luck finding that new cat.
    Take care, Bertha
