Close Heroin Addiction & Recovery

I have been struggling with drugs and alcohol since i was 12, but the drug aspect didn't get serious until i started using meth at age 16. I dropped that to go down low with pharmaceutical opiates and eventually black tar heroin. Well my dad, my brother and I all started using together, after my dad died of an Alcohol induced heroin overdose my brother was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter for fixing him up. It was already getting bad, but from that point on, it went straight down hill.

Treatments

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Working / Worked

Well, not everybody realizes that with AA/NA, there is so much more to recovery than JUST staying clean and sober. The big book promises that our "attitude and outlook on life will change." A thousand different forms of fear will leave us. And it is doing exactly that for me. I owe all that to NOT working the 13th step and becoming a bloodsucker of young newcomer women. Jesus Christ and the 12 steps has been the cornerstone of a new life I never dreamed of, let alone felt worthy of.

Residential Treatment Center Working / Worked

The same as AA really. A new form of service and devotion to a programmed structure has goven me freedom from my own bullsh*t. Through the program I went to, The Redwood Gospel Mission in Santa Rosa, I have been able to serve the lost and discarded with a servant's heart.

Prayer Working / Worked
