Sorry don't mean to take away all you've been through - but you and I have discussed your recovery in great detail. You were not in the state Steve is at 6 months, or even at 4 months. Steve has never progressed to where you were reasonably soon after your injury - so that means something. His diffuse axonal injury might have been far worse then yours, as well as the fractures and bleeds that damaged his brain. It is also believed he might have suffered a stroke. He's had 2 psychiatrists evaluate him - and the results were horrifying. I just got word they are now moving him AGAIN because there is no progress. So just when he began to grow use to the nursing home he is at, they are gonna move him somewhere else. And the place he SHOULD be - is in a loved one's home. He has FOUR siblings, all of whom could take him in, but they won't.

It is the saddest thing I've ever seen in my life. For that alone - I feel I need to distance myself because I can do nothing about ALL the endless mistakes and injustices I am witnessing.

    SUCKS!

Anyway - sorry to vent. I'll touch base with you again soon.

Thanks Emma - I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

I am not going to see Steve as frequently anymore, I visited him Saturday and it had been 2 weeks since I'd seen him. While he looks good, nothing has changed - he has made no progress. Accept now he will begin to cry for seemingly no reason at all. This could be a result of the dementia he's been diagnosed with as a result of the damage to his brain. It makes seeing him all the harder when he cries - especially when he can't tell me what is wrong. And when I left he began to cry again - it is just heartbreaking.

I need to try to move on with my life - I'm still grieving this loss. And still trying to accept the severity of what has happened to him and the fact that he likely will never recover to the degree you have and many like you have. His injury was just much more serious.

I'm happy for you as you have so much to be grateful for, and I know you realize this.

Take good care and thank you for all your support -
