Hi Laurie! Thanks so much for your comments and good wishes. They mean a lot to me. How have you been doing lately? I hope all is well by you, and that you didn't blow away in that storm last week. It was a doozy! Love & hugs, Sue
Thanks
I am enjoying it, I hope that everyone else does too. Have a Wonderful week-end.
Hugs,
Wes
Funny Face
You will get on board soon. I was flying the heli over the USS SOB and then re-fueled in NZ and was heading back to pick PearlB up and then was knocked out of the air by pirates, LOL , It has been quite the journey so far !!
Flower
A bunch of cyber flowers for a good friend. Wish they could have been real ones but until I learn how to do that particular trick, the cyber ones are about all I can send you right now. Take care and stay safe...... xoxoxox - Colette

Close COPD & Emphysema
I'm a 53 year old, smoker(yes, yes I know and will be quiting soon). When on O2 and meds my sat. levels are 90-91%. No meds, my sat level is 72-78. We have lots of Doc. bills, and no insurance(or money for that matter). I do what I can around the house and not much more. Feeling much better about myself since I joined DS.
Treatments
- Advair Working / Worked
- no side effects, worked better than spirivia because I used it 2X daily. Couldn't afford it.
- Albuterol Somewhat Helpful
- Use both neb, and inhaler. My hands are starting to shake a little, and the tightness in my chest doesn't go away for very long.
- Azmacort Working / Worked
- no side effects, all it did was break up the junk in my lungs for a while.
- Combivent Somewhat Helpful
- Love this stuff. takes away the tightness in my chest, breaks up the junk in my lungs. Can't afford it.
- Duoneb Somewhat Helpful
- works great. It is same as Albuterol & Ipratropium neb, easy to use, too expensive. I'll measure vials instead.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- The miracle drug! I can function all day with O2-- grocery shopping, cleaning, walk on the beach all in 1 day. My potasium level rises on Pred, Dr. doesn't want me to take it because of all the horrible side effects.
- Serevent Working / Worked
- did not work
- Spiriva Working / Worked
- It only lasts 4-5 hours (if I sit quietly)then I feel the tightness coming back.
- Vicks VapoRub Working / Worked
- did not work. I got so hot, I coughed uncontrollably, I thought I would die!
- Xopenex Working / Worked
- no side effects, seemed to work for a short time but can't afford it.
- Singulair Working / Worked
- Dries up all the crud in my head nose lungs and makes it easier to breath and gets rid of some of the tightness in my chest. I have to drink a lot of water to keep hydrated though.
Close Caring For Aging Parents
I gave up my life to take care of my Mom 24-7 since 1998 when she had a heart attack&stroke. We have been through 2 bouts of cancer and more strokes (with some paralisis and loss of some eyesight). My husband and I have no time alone.
Open Pulmonary Hypertension
I stay at home and take care of my husband and my mom. Was diagnosed with PPH/Severe COPD in Oct 2008.Pulmonary Dr seems to be more interested in my COPD than the PPH.If I ever get insurance, I'm sure the Cardio Doc will run tests. Until then I go without.

Thank you DS. Ever since I stumbled onto this site and fell into the COPD room, I have felt so much better (I still have no air, but emotionally I feel so much better).
