Close Migraine Headaches

I have lived with chronic pain since I was 23. Migraines, brain tumors and strokes run in my family, and I have Fibromyalgia. I am president of 2 divisions of the company that I work for, and am one of the top saleswomen in the country. I find it very hard to do my work with my daily headaches. I have only three doctors - all who know each other - a GP, a neurologist, and a pain management specialist who is the only source for my very strong pain meds. I am here for support.

Treatments

Acupuncture Not Working

Not only did the acupunction not work, I was told that the migraines came from my breasts,and the gentleman massages my bare breasts, with oil, for ten sessions. To make it worse - I paid him $75/session. He ended up getting arrested as another woman turned him in, but my boobs looked great. This is an honest to goodnest story.

Amerge Not Working

Probably taken. Not on. I have been a virtual lab rat. Have even taken dirivatives of Belladona, Ergots, calcium blockers, anti-depress meds, high blodd presser meds (almost passed out at work and during driving).

Aspirin Not Working

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful

I CANNOT drink. Damn!

Botulin Toxin Not Working

Did it three times and paid out of pocket. My insurance company required me to send in pictures of my face, and they said that since I had no wrinkles - I did not need the treatment - but the pics were from BEFORE the injections! Had it administered by a neurologist and by a pain specialist. Zip. One cool thing - no one could tell when I was happy or sad, so if you do this, be sure to take pictures of your happy and mad face, and carry around to point at when you want to express how you feel.

Caffeine Somewhat Helpful

I have to make sure that I have my cupt of coffee every morning - made with a french press so it is very strong. If I miss it - it can lead to why I call a "storm".

Excedrin Not Working

Yea - right.

Fioricet Not Working

Fioricet is an older med that my mother used. My migrains are hereditary throughout my whole family, along with strokes and brain tumors. This med is a little too old school for my group of doctors.

Fiorinol Not Working

Nope.

Imitrex Somewhat Helpful

I switch up the two triptans - Zomig and Imitrex, and add naproxin for the constriction, plus, Imitrex is avaiable now through generic option, but not for the new one with nap., so I just add myself and save the money. I am sure many of you have been using nap sod for some time - no news to any of you.

Inderal Not Working

Just tried this stuff. Got me SOOOOO sick. Threw out the whole bottle.

Never tried thisone.

Have no idea what this is, but I will bet dollars to donuts that my Neurologist has had me on.

Naproxen Somewhat Helpful

Pretty cool stuff WHEN TAKEN WITH a triptan.

Relpax Not Working

I remember taking this and having a bad reaction. I think it was breathing/chest constriction.

Topamax Somewhat Helpful

As you probably know, migraine care through prescriptions are based on control/management meds to prevent attackes (topopmax, depakote, elavil) and abortifaciants (zomig, oxycotin, etc.) Topomax is one of the meds I take, but there are very weird side effects, weight loss, weird conciousness stuff, etc.

Tylenol Not Working

You gotta be kidding me. I might as well as take a Flitstone Vitamin.

Zomig Working / Worked

I ususally use Zomic with an Opiate.
