One wring of the wash cloth sends me to the moon
One day out in the garden and I'm banished to my room
To lie upon my cooshy bed in utter agony
Bring me the phone,
leave me alone!
Oh, honey, rub my knee!!
Two weeks later I'm at the store feeling really fine
Two seconds later, my hand heats up while I'm in the line
Oh shucks, not now as my toes chime in,
My thumbs attack,
My tendons crack,
My hands are numb with pins
Three months later I'm at the Doc's, having lab work done
Three hundred dollars I put down for another negative one
Don't you give me that puzzled look, that's why you went to school
I'm fed up
I'm laid up,
The medical world is cruel
Can't you see my swollen joints, and hear the pain I'm in?
No, you want more lab work, Lets get 7 vials again!
My hands are drawing up and bending, losing their youthly look,
But you can't see beyond your glasses and your stack of medical books,
I guess I should go in hiding until I'm a knarled up mess,
But then you'd say I should have come sooner so you could run some tests
So I'm going to keep on hobbling in to your office suite
Hoping someday, you'll see a way, to meet RA's defeat.

Wow girl. That is quite profound.
Awesome.

The source of inspiration is everything. The least I can give the rheumy credit for is inspiring me to write a frustrated poem! At least he did something!!

Love your poem Rissa. i am a frustrated poet too. But this is so good. You really can give thanks for the frustration. It may take me a day or 3 to get it done, but i will try to link to your poem from my RA blog. I am from VA and I miss it very much. What part is your home?

Thanks!
I'm nestled between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Piedmont region.
If I look to the West I see rolling, beautiful mountains. If I look to the East, I see the flatlands. We are surrounded by cow speckled fields. It's one of the most beautiful parts of the U.S. in my humble estimation!

imho, you are correct.
It has been a goal for many years to get to that spot and never leave again.
