Nick has been extremely frustrated and aggressive over the last month. We went to the ER on Thursday and he spent two days back at Rush. I didn't know if there was an underlying reason for the sudden change in behavior. Everything checked out fine. No hydro, shunts are working properly. Dr. Munoz was pretty happy overall. He was put on a new medication that just wasn't going to work. It washed him out. I spoke with his doctor at Rehab and she suggested taking him off the Ritalin. We have only taken him back one dose and in one day is showing improvement. We had a really good day yesterday for the first time in a month! So far so good today too. He went to the dentist to have a cavity filled. If this was a few days ago he would have ruined our entire day. Today he is still good! I hope that this was from a side effect from the ritalin and we can figure out a different medication for him if he needs any at all. I love you Nick

Well, Nick is going to have surgery on Monday. We will go back to Rush tomorrow to get checked in. He is having a baclofen pump put in. He is starting to communicate more clearly when something is bothering him. So, after more changed in meds and nothing seeming to work. Nick finally said...I'm in pain, what do I need to do for you to get it? Well that was it. I talked to his doctors again and they think a baclofen pump will decrease the tone in his legs and relieve his pain. I'm so sorry he has to go through this. I just hope it works and helps him. I just realized I am journaling in the wrong section! Oh well! I love you Nick and we will get through this together!
