Seeing the light
Nick has been extremely frustrated and aggressive over the last month. We went to the ER on Thursday and he spent two days back at Rush. …
My fiance suffered from a sinus infection that moved into his brain..turned into bacterial menegitis..turned into hydrocephalus..also caused bilateral brain stem strokes. Considering the fact it's amazing he's alive, he's also recovering quite well so far. He was in the hospital in the Neuro ICU for two months, he was then transfered to a Rehabilitaion Institute for one month. He's now home in rehab three times a week. He's been home for 3 1/2 months. He couldn't eat, speak or hardly move his own body when he came home. He now eats everything! He is in a wheelchair now but is working on standing in therapy. He can talk, scream, laugh! He still has a long road ahead of him, ahead of us but we work at it everyday..some are good and some are harder than others. I don't know how far he will recover but I have hope for him, I have hope for us. I just need to know what other people with the same or similar stories are going through. I need a little support.

My Fiance had a sinus infection that moved to his brain..turned into bacterial menegitis..turned into hydrocephalus..caused bilateral brain stem strokes. He is 30 years old. We booked our reception hall the day before this all happened in September. He was in the Neuro ICU for two months, spent one month in a rehab center. He has been home now since December and is in therapy (sp,OT and PT) three times a week. Overall, he's making progress.
