About Me
I'm a freelance marketing writer who was looking forward to finally spending time with my recently-retired husband, who had worked nights for 20 years. Now we're raising his daughter's three grandchildren, ages 6, 7, and 9. Maybe we'll get to spend time in another life. What fun!

Reading, gardening, cooking. Raising someone else's children is NOT one of my interests :-)

Your reply means so much to me-I felt better after reading it. You make a lot of sense, something that I seem to lack at times when I'm in an emotional state. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom.

Close Grandparents Raising Children
My husband and I (late 50s) got our 3 gc's to raise literally within an hour and a half, when their addict mom left them with her then-boyfriend while she went out to party. We've now had them for four years. They're fabulous kids, and we love them, but they're "there," and they're taking a major toll on our marriage, life, you name it. Added to that is the fact that I never wanted kids, never had any of my own. I'm still not loving this role; neither is my husband.
Close Caring For Aging Parents
I cared for my mother for six years in our home, until her Alzheimer's became too far gone for our ability. We moved her to the area's best nursing home where we could visit her every day until her death one year later.
