Close Spina Bifida
Type: spina bifida occultaI was born with spina bifida occulta with a mylomeningoceyle and tehtered cord. I have had 4 surgeries: age 7 and 10 - lumbar lamenectomy, ages 13 and 15 spinal fusion L2, 3 & 4. I am now 41 and gave birth 2 3 girls (1 naturally) and I have worked on my feet most of my adult life. The older I get, the more issues I seem to have as a result of this defect. I have never had anyone to talk to that has this. I am excited to meet people that can relate! :)
Close Restless Legs Syndrome
I was recently diagnosed with severe RLS: 160 movements per hour and woke up on an average of every 5 minutes during a sleep study. I also have spina bifida which may have a connection. I am on Mirapex and starting to have some unwanted side effects. I would like to explore other tratments!
Treatments
- Mirapex Somewhat Helpful
- It helps me sleep but doesnt help during the day. I have gained 22 lbs in last 3 months and experiencing edema. Not liking this!
Open Celiac Disease
My daughter was diagnosed when she was almost 2. She will be 8 this summer. It has been a challenge as I'm sure you all know.
Treatments
- Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
- Amazing how much better my daughter felt after changing her diet. She gained 7 lbs in 2 months after that. That's a lot of weight for a 2 yr old.
Open ADHD / ADD
To find other adults with ADHD that can shed some light on how to cope with this.
Treatments
- Adderall Too Soon to Tell
- Just started Adderall XR. Seems to be better than the immediate release.
- Concerta Too Soon to Tell
- Very expensive. Seemed to help a little but my doc suggested that I try the Adderall XR.
- Behavior Management Somewhat Helpful
- I am beginning to recognize some of my issues and trying to find ways to correct them.
