    • Interests

Independent studies in psychology, consciousness, energy healing; gardening; poetry and essay writing, singing, have also enjoyed earth history geology, Chaos theory, mandlebrots, photography, occassional other creative endeavors, alternative energy, recycling and re-use. Am by nature a thoughtful social critic and view society/culture as refelction of individual psychology - as a species we are not are not yet fully "awake" to source of social/cultural beliefs and practices. Recent interest in further examination of "inborn" capacities - how both aggression and compassion are present as impulses, etc. Presently more "landscaping" than I ever wanted to engineer due to home/land massive repair requirements. These were present when I retired from teaching in Canada and moved back to the States and have been a big surprise as well as ongoing challenge!! :)

Where does discontent start? You are warm enough, but you shiver. You are fed, yet hunger gnaws you. You have been loved, but your yearning wanders in new fields. And to prod all these there's time, the Bastard Time.rnJohn Steinbeck

      Guided Imagery Working / Worked
One of several valuable life-enhancing practices; infrequent use.
      Music Somewhat Helpful
Listen, dance, sing.. IF " the right time", (cannot sleep to music, mind gets busy analyzing harmonies, etc.).
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Limited experience. Strong preference: "Client centered", lots of reflective listening.

Many years reading study psychology, self-help. Very thorough at the time. Not the same appeal recently.

      Type: Vegetarian

General practice unprocessed foods, whole grain products, etc. Once raised cattle, poultry - organic. When no longer farming chose to purchase no commercial meats, now do not eat any meat products. A number of dietary supplements, none especially focused on non-meat diet.

    • Open Smoking Addiction & Recovery

Not sure how this will go for me but way past time to 'fess up' about a habit I have had many many years, first denying, then ignoring.

    • Open Financial Challenges

Have lived much of life on strict budget, little credit 'issue' - in fact so little that credit rating likely a 'bust'.. Strict budgeting creates "attitude adjustment" opportunity for me! :) Am joining today to support DS invitation to keep US PIRG report on a 'front burner'. Am also impressed with situations and knowledge explored in this group. Thanks!

      Treatments

      Budgeting Working / Worked
Seldom a time in my life when strict budgeting was not in play.
Cut Up Credit Cards Working / Worked
No credit cards for over 20 yrs (have debt/credit card linked direct to checking acct and use it routinely.)
      Earn Money Working / Worked
First 40hrs/wk employment = summers, age 12. Still working for groceries, etc., and have partial pension.
