Close Meningitis

I have had reoccuring Meningitis six times over the past 15 years. Each time I quit smoking, I end up with Aseptic Meningitis and am in the hospital for days. I'm tired of smoking and afraid to quit another time for fear of this happening again. Has anyone else heard of this correlation? My neuro seems to think there may be one, but does is not certain. I just don't want to do this science project of quitting and then getting this awful painful meningitis again.
