I have four daughters ages 16, 14, 12, and 7 and have been married for 18 years.I have had Crohn's Disease for 30 years and have had a lot of pain issues. My family is wonderful and supportive, but it is still hard for them. The kids don't always understand why I can't do things with them.

Yes it is the Fentanyl patch. It works for me a little, got use to it. But can feel the difference after the patch wears. Sorry didn't back to you right away been having family crisis and also had computer problems the past 5 days. Loie Volunteer Support Counselor

Close Chronic Pain
Hi, I'm 36, have four beautiful daughters and have been married to a wonderful guy for 18 years. I have had Crohn's Diseas since I was 7, so I am no stranger to pain. I'm looking for kindred spirits.
Treatments
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- I used Norco for breakthrough pain, but found the nausea to be more troublesome than necessary.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- I use Guided Visualization occasionally and it is very helpful. Sometimes it's the only thing that does help.
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- I have an Intrathecal Pump implanted in my abdomen that delivers a small dose 24/7. It has helped, but it is still limited.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- I use Percocet only rarely for breakthrough pain. I try to avoid it due to it being very addictive, but it does serve a purpose.
Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Treatments
- Asacol Not Working
- I take 16 Pentassa a day and I don't see any benefit.
- Azathioprine Not Working
- I tried this recently but it caused a lot of nausea.
- Azulfidine Not Working
- BAD BAD BAD, found out I was allergic.
- Entocort Working / Worked
- This helped,but the side effects were plrntiful and very frustrating.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I have been on Prednisone off and on most of my life. It always helps, but the weight gain is awful.
- Probiotics Too Soon to Tell
- I just started taking these, so I will keep you updated.
- Surgery Somewhat Helpful
- To date I have had four surgeries and they all gave me temporary relief, but not for long.
Open Family & Friends of Bipolar
My husband of 18 years has rapid cycling bi polar disorder and so does our 16 year old daughter. I guess that makes me kind of a double duty caretaker.I just need to know there are others out there who know what it's like to love someone with this and how hard it is to watch them suffer.
Open Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed 8 years ago. Have periodic "flares" and looking for people who understand.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- Pain was too widespread, I ended up looking and feeling like a human pin-cushion.
- Cyclobenzaprine Not Working
- Too sleepy...
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Was great for the stress management side...
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- Helped with sleep a little, but too much of a hang over the next day.
- Morphine Somewhat Helpful
- I have an intrathecal pump with Morphine, but it is only mildly effective for the Fibro.
- Vitamin B12 Working / Worked
- Great for energy, but only in the injectable form.
Open Celiac Disease
I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and I also have Crohn's Disease.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Too Soon to Tell
- Just started...I'll keep you informed
- Gluten Free Diet Too Soon to Tell
- Also just started, but things are looking up. I have noticed a lack of pain when I am careful, so I guess that's something.
