Always keep that attitude going!!! I started to get discouraged a while ago that my CA 125 numbers are rising despite everything I'm doing. Then someone said, "just think what might have happened if you hadn't done all this." Now I'm planning to be the healthiest person, ever, to fight a recurrence (still waiting to see where I'm at on that - currently at the oncology center drinking contrast for my CT this morning.) Best of wishes in your fight! Janet

Hi! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Are you the person who gave me the chemo angel information? It has been such a blessing for my mother! I'm getting ready to return to Atlanta to be with Mother for her last two chemo treatments, the final exam and C.T., and then to take her home and get her resettled in her home, practice with her driving again, etc. Fortunately, she lives in a very small town and she can easily drive to the grocery store, drug store, and church and to visit her sister. She can hardly wait to return home!

It's a beautiful weekend in Southern California. I hope you are having nice weather in PA!

    Hi there,
Interesting how many of us on here are New Jerseyians, or ex-New Jerseyians.
Where about are you? I grew up outside of Philly.
I saw that you've had trouble with itchy skin and just found a natural product that is really nice. It has Arnica, aloe and jojoba oil in it. These natural herbs and oils really seem to do the trick. Glad to see that your CA125 went down! Mine moved dramatically for the first time in over a year! I am soooo happy about it.
well, time to go...the Red Sox are on in 20 minutes.
    hugs, lindamae

Hi Mary Ann, I saw on your comment to Inka's post that your CA 125 is down. Oh what great news! I'm sure you are relieved for now. I know it doesn't mean cure but it is a big relief. I'll have my next test on August 5 - after we come back from vacation. I'm not going to worry about it for now - I just hope that it does what yours has done. Take care and I will keep you in my prayers. Much love, Janet

Hiya.. great news that the CA is down again for you.. so good to hear these things happening to us. Thanks for being here and for your concern and encouragement.. Yes I did have a scan just before the doxil and it wasn't anything remarkable.. it was definitely on the go again so we resumed the chemo.. I am a bit confused as to where exactly it is at this stage and will have to get to grips after this next scan. Love and hugs to you xxx

Hi Mary Ann, Thank you for your wonderful and encouraging comments on my last journal. It's almost too much to expect that my CA 125 will go down but your experience gives me hope. Nevertheless, I also know I will be disappointed if they go up again. It's sort of like living with a time bomb in your body. I am really trying to do everything I know (diet and exercise) to boost my immune system. I am determined to deal well with anything that comes. At least this lets me mentally prepare for a recurrence - unlike being diagnosed the first time which literally came out of the blue. Let me know how you are doing. I hope you numbers continue to fall and that you are feeling well these days. Much love and many hugs, Janet

I agree with your message. EAch of us is an individual...and what is terribe news for one, my not be so bad with others. This doesn't invalidate our personal notes of comparison. It's how we FEEL that say much to our state of health and mind.
my moments are usually spent thinking of how lucky I am. It's the best way for me to handle things. This caring website is another place...the group hug I often need!
    hugs to all, lindamae

It's good to read that you are able to put off chemo for a while longer. My CA125 went down loads three months after I finished chemo and it had been stuck for a while. I think it is wise to have a break when it is still coming down. This will give you time to heal and get stronger. I also had very bad reactions to platin/taxol regime.. After my second dose of doxil I can say it is nothing in comparison.. I've had slight nausea for a few days this time and that is all.. Have a wonderful break from this.. relax, enjoy and get stronger.. all is being done as best it can and all you have to do is to get your strength up.. Hugs go with you.. xxx

Thanks for you advice and the foods you recommended. Mother's doctor suggested Keifer, sort of a liquid yogurt with lots of acidophilus. She LOVES it! He also recommended a protein powder called METRIX since ENSURE gives her terrible heartburn and diarrhea. We have just purchased it so we haven't tried it yet. He also recommended a drink called AS10, but we haven't bought it yet. What is happening to you now? You mentioned your CA125 was rising. That's definitely an encouragement to not complain about the 9 treatments! Mother's latest CA125 is 88, the lowest it has been, and that was before this new chemo.

It really helps to have to have this advice. Thanks so much!

    Love and Blessings!

    Hi there,
Thanks for the note. Always good to hear from my DS sisters. I was diagnosed, originally, about 5 years ago. Have had recurrence 2X in the last 2 years. I had a horrid experience with taxol...and won't do it again. However, I want to live, and at this point in time...treating my cancer with some sort of chemo is the only way to achieve that goal. You will do okay...just be sure to ask lots of questions! hugs and more hugs, lindamae
