Hi,
It's nice to hear from you! Sorry I feel weird saying hi USF1970! But hi!
You know it's funny, the older I get the less any of the things that happened matter, or at least in a negative way, I've managed to break my nose too! but I quite like the lump that's on it now, as do I like how it looks - and believe me it took a long time.
I hope your son is doing okay, I think oddly being that this is a support group that in many ways to be different is to be special and I'm sure you know how special your son is, no matter what happens I am sure he knows he has your love and that, I think is the most important thing!
It's an odd forum, but in many ways I feel lucky to be able to be here and speak to people with whom having a cleft etc, might make you feel alienated or sad or whatever and just having, mostly come through it and seeing things from a better light.
Thank you for contacting me, and if you or your son ever want to talk I'm here. And as I said to marijarice, I am happy to answer pretty much any question, in many ways I think it is as important that the support network of people, their friends and families have someone to talk to as anything.
Anyway, thanks again for sending me the message it was nice of you.
Thank you.
Hug
Thanks so much!!! Thanks for your support. I know it's going to be ok at the end but right now it is so hard. We'll try to do our best and keep praying.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I have Celiac Disease and was diagnosed w/UC about a year ago although I have had symptoms since the CD diagnosis 10 years ago. W/o meds, the UC is BAD.
Treatments
- Entocort Working / Worked
- No side effects of which I am aware. Kept the 'trots' at bay. I am MUCH better on the med than off.
Close Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed w/CD 10 years ago but have had stomach trouble most of my life. DH was led me to the doctor (s) - it took almost four years to diagnose. I finally saw a VERY young allergist who said "I think I've seen this in books" - speaking of the DH. I had been to Emory for the rash and they weren't able to diagnose but that was 10 years ago - we've made a LOT of progress since then.
Treatments
- Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
- As long as I am EXTREMELY strict - I can't even eat uncoated french fries that have been fried w/foods breaded w/flour.
Open Cleft Lip / Palate
My son was born 25 years ago w/a unilateral cleft lip and a VERY wide cleft palate. It was tough but he is FANTASTIC now. He is so loving and generous and so happily married (something I was concerned about). He just earned a ME degree from Georgia Tech. I am so very proud of him.
Treatments
- Reconstructive Surgery Working / Worked
- Many, many surgeries but his eustachion tubes were the most difficult and still are. He continues to have ruptured ear drums (in just one ear). Many times he doesn't even know that it has ruptured.
Open Alcoholism
Want more information; just browsing but worried about alcoholism!!!!
Treatments
- Cold Turkey Not Working
- I once gave alcohol up for lent.....it was tough and I went right back as soon as Easter came!!!!
Open Congenital Heart Disease
Type: CardiomyopathyMy 6th month old grandson has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. I would appreciate ANY good news story b/c right now, the situation is looking rather bleak. Thank you SO much.
