About Me
I am married, have three grown children, and four grandchildren. I retired two years ago. I am very active and enjoy interaction with friends and family. I have a beautiful female golden retriever who provides a lot of comfort. I struggled with a fib for over 9 years. The ablation procedure was done in early February at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. I am so glad I had the ablation!

Jody....I am doing so much better. Am on a monitor for a month but only as a precaution. I had some flutter for the first month...but in the last month I only had it 3 times. I have my drs. appt next month and really am excited about it. I am relearning about my body...it seem strange that I don't know what to expect now with my heart. I am so used to the old way, but I am learning again.
High Five
Welcome back...glad that you really enjoyed yourself. I am doing much better. Have a monitor on but drs. think that it is just a precautionary thing. I have only had 3 episodes this past month. And nothing so far. Later

I am doing alot better. I have had a few bouts. Two events since around July 4th both lasting about 4 hours average. But over all I am doing much better. I am trying to get back in shape which is not easy. :-) I know have have around 6 months to see if the surgery was success. I am prayiing that I improve 100 percent or at least stabilize. Thanks for thinking of me.

Close Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)
I had a fib for over 9 years. I ran out of options for medications. They either didn't work, stopped helping me, or I couldn't tolerate the side effects. On Feb. 3, 2009, I had a catheter ablation. I stopped my flecainide and coumadin about the first of May and I am feeling great! My heart stays in SR and I have a lot more energy than I have had for years.
Treatments
- Amiodarone Working / Worked
- stopped working after two or three years.
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- Seems to be working
- Digoxin Somewhat Helpful
- Doc who did ablation discontinued. Said it wasn't effective.
- Diltiazem Working / Worked
- Makes me tired but keeps my heart rate in reasonable range
- Lovenox Working / Worked
- Temporary self injections following surgery.
