I am a disabled 57 yr old female with degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteo arthritis. Also suffer from depression. My family lives in another State. I enjoy scrapbooking, and card making. I just want to join a group of people who are just like me. So maybe I can help you, and you can help me. No one knows what we go through, unless they have been through it themselves.

Close Back Pain
I am a 57 yr old female with chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, osteo, and rheumatiod arthritis. I suffer daily since my early 20's. I want to join this group because I think I could be helpful to others as I have dealt with it for so long, and am hoping that others can help me too.
Treatments
- Carisoprodol Not Working
- Did not help me at all.
- Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
- Did this some time ago, and it did not help.
- Cortisone (Injection) Not Working
- Does not help at all.
- Epidural Injection Not Working
- This did not help me either.
- Fentanyl Somewhat Helpful
- Helped very little, and it is very addictive. Bad experience coming off of it.
- Heat Working / Worked
- Helps to relieve pain, but very temporary.
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- Did not help
- Ibuprofen Not Working
- No help
- Naproxen Not Working
- No help
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- Tried after each surgery and this only made it worse.
- Relaxation Working / Worked
- Lying down helps to releive pain. I cannot sit or stand in one place for more than 5-10 minutes.
- Stretching Somewhat Helpful
- It loosens up things a little, but is very temporary.
- TENS Not Working
- Tried this years ago. No help.
Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
I am new to this group, but not to the disease. I developed RA when I was 21, and pregnant. That was 37 years ago. I also have degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. I have had 2 back surgeries, and am not able to do much of anything. I want to join this group because of my past experience with this disease. Figure maybe I can help someone, and maybe someone can help me. Would love to meet new friends who have things in common with me.
Treatments
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- plaquenil was prescribed 25 years ago to help ward off the flare-ups. I have been on it since. I don't have any side effects, but must have my eyes checked every year, as one side effect can be blindness.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- When I have a flare-up, as I have intermitting RA, I take it. It is the only med that seems to work for me. I usually start out on a fairly high dosage, and ween my way down and off.

Hi, I am a 57 yr old female living in chronic pain. I have had 2 back surgery's. Laminectomy and fusion both times. I have fibro, and RA, and chronic fatique. I have been in pain since my early twenty's. I don't think I will ever be without it. Maybe we can help each other. No one knows about all this pain except those of us who are living it. So, who better to chat with?
Treatments
- Chiropractic Adjustment Somewhat Helpful
- Long time ago, before I got to bad for anyone to manipulate my body.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Did not help my firbro as I was told it would.
- Heat Working / Worked
- I just love the heat on my aching painful back.
- Hydrocodone Somewhat Helpful
- Took it for a short period of time. Did not like the constipation, and it did not seem to help much.
- Nerve Blocks Not Working
- Had so many injections I lost count. NONE of them did any good.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- Took it for a little while after one of my surgery's.
- Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
- Took it for quite some time. In the end I hated it, and weening off landed me in the hospital.
- Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Only after surgery's.
- TENS Not Working
- Used this a long time ago. It did not help then, and now that I am worse, I know it won't help now.

I am here for support as I quit the habit. I am 4 days smoke free now.
Treatments
- Nicotine Patch Working / Worked
- It worked for me before and it is working now. The only side effect I have is nightmares.
