Today I went in to see the pain specialist and I told him about my pain befoe and after my hysterectomy. I didnt leave anything out. He examed me and pressed on my lower back (tail bone area) and I let him know when it hurt. I let him know about how bad the pain goes down my legs and I feel like my pelvic area feels like I'm being pulled and stabing pain I have that doesnt let up. I have a hard time standing, sitting, and laying down. Nothing helps the pain. He first told me he wasnt sure what was going on. He couldnt tell me why. He then talked to me about epadural shot and I told him that it was ony going to cover up the pain and I didnt want that. I want to find out why then go through with what I have to. I gave him all my medical records including my MRI and CT scan. He seen I have been through every test. The MRI only showed a minor buldg in the L4 L5 with no compramize to the nerves and everything else was good. Needless to say we went back and forth over this and I finally said I would take the shot and I was told there was no guarentee it would work. I set my appointment and left in tears thinking why arent they trying to figure it out? I explained to him that I had a lap and my gyn didnt see any endo but when my biopsy came back from my hyst. I said I have endo and I am taking estrogen. When I got home I got a call from my doctors nurse and she said that the Dr wants me to have another MRI to rule out any nerve damage and he doesnt want me to have to take the epadural shot for nothing. So.. I set an appointment for Friday to get yet another MRI.( another notch on the belt of many). She also informed me he is going on vacation for 2 weeks!! I wont find out about my MRI till he gets back! I told her I couldnt wait that long in this pain and asked for some pain medicaton. She first told me she didnt think he would give me any but made her ask and she called me back with one. He gave me Tramadol 50 mg. I took one but it hasnt worked yet. If nothing comes back on my MRI and I know it wont I have to go back to the endo specialist to have another lap and he said he would find out why I'm in so much pain. The things I have to go through its no wonder why I get depressed all the time.
I wont find out for almost 3 weeks about my MRI and I asked if another Dr could read it and I was told no. I'm not sitting by and letting these Dr's run me over and I should get the right answers. I'm glad they called back to schedule me for an MRi so it will show them for themselves theres no pinched nerves.
I'm happy for you! Now maybe you'll get some answers!! Have a great day! ~heather

Very frustrating indeed! I will hope and pray for you. Our situations sound so similar.. the slight bulge in L4, L5. I'm not sure where mine is exactly. I do have pain going down my left leg, but I feel crampy too in my lower back (and lower even), which is the most bothersome. Could be a combination of things in your case.. endo, disc damage, some other unknown. I know what you mean.. it's like the more you get upset, the docs seem to not care and throw it right back at you. Think positive things; you may have to wait a while, but hopefully this upcoming MRI will provide some real answers for you.

It sounds like you might have fibromyalgia along with pain caused by the compression of the tissue between L4 and L5. You need to see a rheumatologist and an orthopedist for the lower back pain. A lot of pain management specialist only know how to treat pain and that's it. It's not that you he's ignoring you, he just might be trying to cover his ignorance by trying to make you feel like its in your head. I hate when doctors do that. It is truly annoying. Also, about another physician not being able to read your MRI is a lie. I got my MRI done and took it with my to all my physicians. Each one was able to identify what was and wasn't wrong, based on their realm of specialty.
On the plus side, if you keep complaining, he'll eventually SEND you to another physician to rule out other conditions. It worked for me. :D Take care.
