I have a 6 yr. old son, had him late in life at 39 (almost 40). I am a very active parent and enjoy the outdoors (walking, biking, swimming, skating etc.) I am trying to stay positive with the news of my disease.

Just remember your not in this alone!
Thanks for your kind message. It must be wuite a hock to find out about PKD at this stage...I had many years to process the idea. I was told diaslysis starts around GRF of 15, which is not far from 12. I'm sure there is a range. The real issue with me is thast only 6 months ago my GRF was 25 so it dropped very quickly. Thats' why they want me to get a donor in place now...I might have another big drop in a short time. Good luck to you and keep me updated about your condition!
Sorry I haven't really got any advice. I had blood in my urine as a child, but not since. Just wanted to send you best wishes.
I was diagnosed with PKD March 11th, I went to ER. they did a CT on my mid section, looking for a blood clot. they found PKD. My kidneys had too many cysts to count. My kidney's are functioning at 42% My Neph said to make no life style changes yet, She wants me to keep an eye on my BP (had a bleeding cyst, so now need bloodwork done this month). I may be mutant, my mom still needs to be tested. Worried about my only son, pray everyday he does not inherit this.
