Wednesday, February 27, 2008 --Giving a Surprise Mood
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 | A Poem/Artistic story

I've got to tell you about my spontaneous action yesterday and the reaction I got.  I had spent part of the day Monday with a friend from church with whom I work with in the youth dept.  It was so fun, I treated her to lunch and we shopped some.  Well the next day I was thinking, I wish I could do something special for my other friend who also helps in the youth.  I knew where she worked (at the county health department) but I had never stopped by to see her, so I thought--I'll take R some flowers as a surprise.  Now this lady is one of the most encouraging, loving, silly, funloving people you'd ever want to know, so I thought "i'll ask at the front desk 'who is the happiest person you know who works here today?" and they will surely say R's name.  So I did it!  much to my surprise the receptionist said "i'm not sure any of us today are too happy"...I mean, 'wow' it wasn't a Monday, either.  She kind of caught me off guard with that response, so I said, well tell me where one of the happiest people I know, "R" 's  office is located.  She did and I went to my friends office but she was not there :(.  But she did pop in right as I was looking for some paper to leave her a note.  She was tickled to get the flowers and thanked me for making her day.  We couldn't talk long, and later she sent me a text msg on my phone thanking me again.

I texted her back, and told her to tell the receptionist that I was praying for her to have a better day...I hope she did.  And then I texted something I think was impulsive and maybe not the best thing to ask.  I asked my friend to ask the receptionist if she would like to trade--her job for having PD with me.  I dunno if my friend asked her or not.  And I'm kind of ashamed for being so brash. I have not walked in her shoes, nor has she in mine.

I hope that each of you, no matter what kind of situation life has placed you in, will find a blessing each day and will share a smile with another.  Or share the best medicine available--a hug--you'd be surprised what a difference it will make !  Take care Wink

What a great thing to do. I would probably cry on the spot if someone did that for me. Sometimes God uses a person in ways that you don't even begin to understand. I'm guessing she had a better day because of the sweet thing you did. You even made my day as I was sitting here this morning feeling sorry for myself, but, as my husband always says to me, every day is a good day, just some are better.
    Hugs, Jan

I just knew you were neat and you have proven it again. Isn't it nice we are still able to come and go something many can't do anymore. I hardly ever tell anyone I have pd until they see some little sign then I usually laugh and say would you like to shake hands I do it really well. After they laugh I then tell them all you have to do is have pd and you too can shake hands with the best of them. It helps to take away some of the embrassment for them, but like you sometimes I want to put them in their place just a little. good job Judy.
