    • Close Acne

My skin has always been sensitive and it seems that every few years, I get a bad breakout sometimes accompanied by red, bothered skin. This past fall, my skin broke out horribly but I thought it would pass. Finally, I went to the doctor in need of help. I was healthy, happy, a good person. Why was it happening? Well, I'm finally getting better. Currently, I am taking Accutane and am interested in other people's experiences.

      Treatments

      Accutane Considering
I've been on this for over 2 months but had a very hard time deciding to begin this treatment. To anyone considering, the book the doctor gives you is scary but the most common side effects are dry skin, lips & eyes. The others are terrible but less frequent. At first, my body was always weak & tired. It's definitely worth it if other treatments don't work. My skin started drying out right away and breakouts decreased. If you can't stand your skin, I would recommend it!
      Minocycline Not Working
Wasn't helping. I made an appiontment with a different doctor because I felt like I was't being helped.
      Proactiv Somewhat Helpful
My skin is extremely sensitive so when I used Proactiv years ago, it just made my whole face turn red. I don't remember correctly if it is salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide that was the ingredient which is supposed to help acne but if your skin is sensitive, the concentration is too high. Later I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me a wash with a lower percent that didn't bother my skin as much. I used it with antibiotics and a sulfur gel, which worked much better!
      Tetracycline Not Working
This fall my skin broke out bad! I went to a dermatologist and was put on this and Prednisone, some kind of steriod. I was getting headaches so was switched to Minocycline. I didn't think the antibiotics helped at all.
