- Provigil helped with my excessive sleepines, but it gave me terrible pressure headaces. I wound up in the ER @ 4AM one night with severe peripheral edema and hypertension - at 31y/o I have never had swelling nor have I ever had a high BP reading. Since I've ceased taking Provigil, I've been fine. I've never had an adverse reaction to a prescription - I'll never touch this stuff again! I'd rather be sleepy than puffy and feeling like my head was going to explode.
