Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Diagnosed in '88 with Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. Predisone makes me crazy and Sulfasalzine works but makes me sun-sensitive. Currently getting by with diet, excercise, stress control (meaning I can not hold a job) and other means.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I avoid Anything whole wheat, "Gassy" foods such as cauliflower. Fast food french fries. All of these tend to cause discomfort or a full flareups. I am lactose intolerant and any milk product, anything with milk products cause severe flareups. Lactose free milk and ice cream work great.
- Azulfidine Working / Worked
- I was on this for a couple of years. It worked but made me sun sensitive and I love the outdoors. I got depressed and agoraphobic. Just would not leave the house at all. Other than that I would take it again if I had too.
- Prednisone Not Working
- It made me nuts. I decided everyone around me was miserable and I should just put them out of their misery. I immediately contacted a different doctor (mine ignored me when I told him I was having mental issues) and was taken off of it as quickly as medically possible.
