Close Autism / Autism Spectrum
My daughter Casey was diagnosed at 3 years old with classic Autism. She was completely nonverbal until 4 1/2 years old. She will be turning 8 years old in 9 days. She attends an Autism support classroom. She can request different things now and will repeat anything you ask her to. Socially she has a long way to go. She would rather be on the computer than anything. She is very smart. She has a 3 1/2 year old brother Dillon who keeps her on her toes. They love each other very much.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Casey is on GFCF diet . Made a huge difference in attention, focus, and behavior. Waited a while to implement it so i saw firsthand that it actually works.
- Occupational Therapy Working / Worked
- Very important part of casey's therapy. Allows her to calm herself so she can focus on things.
- Pets Working / Worked
- We have several cats which she engages with when they jump on her bed or get in her way. She smiles and pets them.
- Picture / Word Schedules Working / Worked
- At school and a little at home. She has outgrown it a little. But it was a tremendous help to get her to start communicating.
Close Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
I suffer from some of the symptoms of Interstitial Cystistis and am learning to adapt and live with it.
Treatments
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- Have learned I cannot drink tea or juice. Also watermelon seems to bring out symptoms as well.
Open Single Parenting
I am a mom of two wonderful kids and raising them by myself. I have them 24/7. Their father does not get them at all. Would like to read other people's experiences.
Open Back Pain
I've had back pain ever since I had my daughter 8 years ago. When I had my son Dillon via C-section the guy who was doing the spinal to numb me could not get the needle in my vertebrae. He said there was gristle or scar tissue in there. It took him 6 time sticking me before he could get it in. Horrible. My back has never been the same. I carried my kids on one hip all the time. I think that's why. But now I feel like an old woman. Just curious about other's experiences.

- Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
- actually had a friend pull on my one leg when I was not expecting it and it pulled my spine back in alignment. hurt at the time but felt so much better for probably 9 months. But I have felt my back go back gradully in the last month and now its like it was before.
- Darvon Working / Worked
- helps a little
- Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
- takes the edge off but the pain is still there
Open Celiac Disease
I have suffered from symptoms similar to Celiac disease from the age of 13. My daughter is on a gluten free and casein free diet due to her autism . It has helped her sooo much!
Treatments

- Casein-Free Diet Working / Worked
- Has worked wonders for my daughter.
- Dairy-Free Diet Working / Worked
- I cannot eat dairy. I get sick within the hour or with cheese in a day. But then I am sick for 2 days .
- Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
- Also worked wonders for my daughter. She eats more now than she ever did. She feels better and has gained weight. I have not managed to go completely gluten free yet. I am working on it though.
Open High Cholesterol
I have high cholesterol and other risk factors for stroke. So, I am concerned about getiing my numbers down . Curious to see what other people are doing. I have tried statins but has horrible back pain. Cannot take them.

- Try to keep a steady routine. tough with 2 kids.
- Pravachol Not Working
- had pain and could not continue
- Zocor Not Working
- had back pain and could not continue taking it.
Open Vegetarians & Vegans
Type: VeganI just decided to go vegan last week. Still learning and tryint to eat healthy.
