      From LoraRose November 12

Thanks for the HUG. I guess I just enjoy a good debate. Oh, and a little cuss word never hurt my feelings either. I love your spirit and I appreciate that you are not afraid to express yourself. Please keep sharing your thoughts as you always have and do not let a little ruffled feathers stop you. Hugs. Lora

Thank you for writing about your horrible night/day. It's a great way to share the burden/trouble/pain/anger/etc. and let others know they aren't alone in their horrible days! Praying your sleep is blessed tonight!

    • High Five

      From SSWarning November 10

I'm pretty new to the CP group, and I've read some of your posts. I just want to say that I wish I could be more like you!!! I'm serious! It's hard to find REAL people out there and fortunately, I'm married to one. My DH and I balance each other out perfectly.
And I don't think you were being a "cyber bully", you were doing exactly what the discussion was asking...

      ...giving your opinion!

    • Close Migraine Headaches

Migraine since childhood. 20 years in Chronic Pain. Tried everything, 65 different meds over the years "Headache Clinic" herbs, chiro, accu, meds, etc. It has been determined that like MANY Migrain sufferers I DO NOT suffer from "Rebound Headaches." I need to be honest, doctors which dx rebound are cowards. When you have tried everything and NOTHING works but treating the pain directly, a GOOD doctor will damn the torpedos and TREAT THE PAIN!!!! Only a very specifi

      Treatments

      Acupuncture Not Working
Hurt like heck NO relief VERY expenisve
      Amerge Not Working
Like all Triptans, garbage IMO. Took two hours to give m3 25% releif and only worked less than half the time. NOT work the effort or the expense.
      Aspirin Somewhat Helpful
Meh. It's like trying to stop an atomic bomb with a pop gun.
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
No Chocolate during that time of month. I can't EVER eat bananas (something in them, aldehydes or amino acids which make me start hurting even more.) NO DAIRY. NO ALCOHOL whatsover.
      Axert Not Working
Triptans are garbage, as far as I am concened.
      Botulin Toxin Considering
Too bad the company which makes it is too selfish to actually TEST it for Migraine patinets. Insurance companies won't pay for it, because it is only "FDA approved" for Cosmetic reasons and the vampire drug companies don't give a damn about pain patiets because they can make enough money off of rich white ladies to care about the rest of us who are IN PAIN and may actually get medical benefit from this drug.
      Caffeine Working / Worked
      Works, but use moderation.
      Excedrin Working / Worked
ONLY if there is noting else. Too much and it can mess up your stomach, make you bruise and feel awful.
      Fioricet Working / Worked
GREAT stuff. Again, I do not have "rebound" and I think too many doctors use this excuse so they don't have to prescribe meds which REALLY work.
      Fiorinol Working / Worked
Great stuff. But watch your intake of aspirin.
      Imitrex Not Working
YUCK!!!! NO PAIN RELEIF and the third time I used it (injectable) I thought I was having a heart attack. NEVER AGAIN!
      Inderal Not Working
Didn't work and gave me asthma attacks, and I don't have asthma. AN OTHER drug doctors use when they are TOO COWARDLY to use real medications.
      Magnesium Not Working
Gave me the runs. Even the enteric coated and the chelated.
      Maxalt Not Working
Like other Trips, garbage. Also, gave me chest pain swallowing problems.
      Midrin Not Working
Like stopping an elephant by saying, "Please stop charging and use your words.....MMkay?" Junk.
      Naproxen Not Working
No thank you. More sedating than Oxycodone, and not enough pain releif to bother taking it.
      Topamax Not Working
Walked around like a zombie for a few weeks. NO RELIEF.
      Tylenol Working / Worked
Only when combined with much stronger meds.
      Zomig Not Working
Like other Trips, garbage. Also, gave me chest pain swallowing problems.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
One of the few things which works. Doc trying to switch me over to Oxy which really isnt all that great.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
ONLY thing which ever worked as a preventative. And that only a small amount. Keeps me from blowing my brains out I guess. eye roll
      Zofran Working / Worked
Usually stops the vomiting. Not as good for the dry heaves. NOTHING seems to work for that.
      Medrol Working / Worked
About the only thing which can break a Status Migraine for me. Good stuff. You just have to be very careful with it.
    • Close Chronic Pain

Migraines started as Abdominal Migraine as a child True migraine with aura, tween. Diamond Headache Clinic Yuck in late teens NO HELP. Dxed "Intractable and Chronic" in my 20s. I am never without a headache, and after trying over 60 med and hundreds of Alternatve stuff I have to use strong pain meds. Recent changes in insurance nearly resulted in my having to pay an exta 1500 a month for meds they wouldn't cover, used the excuse that my doctor was over rxing Now switching meds UG

      Treatments

      Acupressure Not Working
      Useless
      Chiropractic Adjustment Not Working
Nice endorphin rush after adjustments, but no long lasting effects. Insurance doen't cover it, and IMO, sex is a better way to "readjust" me. LOL! Better endorphin rush, too!
      Flexeril Not Working
I was too wasted on this to know if it DID work. I am not fond of drooling, slurring like a drunk and falling over furniture, which is what this drug made me do.
      Heat Working / Worked
below the ice pack on my back. Nice, but It can't put it near my head.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Best thing ever. WHY WHY WHY don't they make a "HydroIR" so those of us with a high tolerance can't get ONLY Hydro with NO acetominaphen or ibu????
      Lyrica Not Working
Tried it a few times. Every time, I slept for about 2 days.
      Marijuana Somewhat Helpful
Tried as a teen. It poteniates pain meds, but I have a family, and a career, and I can't take the chance of using it. It wasn't all that helpful, anyway. Although, I know people who get good results from it.
      Meditation Too Soon to Tell
I am really trying. My mind is hard to still.
      Naproxen Not Working
Makes me more sedated and wacky than Oxycodone. Not enough pain releif for the trouble, with the exception of one or two during my period.
      Nerve Blocks Not Working
As a migraine patient, I am too worried about my circulatory system to use these.
      Neurontin Not Working
I walked around like a zombit. People asking me if I was "on drugs." Which NO ONE has ever asked me when I am taking opiates, which actually work.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
Switching from Hydro to both long acting (had this for years) and short acting Oxy IR. Doc dropped my hydro by almost 75% overnight, after TEN years being completely stable on it. My poor receptors are still getting used to the switch. They keep telling me, "This is stronger than Hydro." I don't care what the books says, the Hydro works better and doesn't make me fuzzy and dumb.
      Topamax Not Working
Weird side effects. Couldn't remember words, spaced out. My dh said I "looked stoned." Felt AWFUL as well.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
About the only preventative I have been able to tolerate which works. Probably keeps me from jumping off a bridge sometimes too.
      Medrol Working / Worked
About the only thing which can break a Status Migraine for me. Good stuff. You just have to be very careful with it.
    • Open Sensory Integration Disorder

My youngest child has SPD or SID. She is also HIGHLY gifted, so the normal tricks don't work. She only eats about 7 foods and is becoming obese. OT was a disaster.

      Treatments

      Occupational Therapy Not Working
My dd spent over a year in therapy at Easter Seals. SUPPOSEDLY she had a great OT but as my dds IQ is nearly incalculable the OTs little tricks failed to work. The OT REFUSED to do brushing therapy OR even oral processing therapy. She treated my child like she had a 1 digit IQ and wasted 2 years of our time over a year WAITING for assessment and waiting for a therapist to open her schedule. This child only eats about 7 foods my 3 other children eat well. HELP!
    • Open Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

I have had OCD since I was at least 6 years old. Need people to relate to.

      Treatments

      Anafranil Not Working
Was given this WITH Prozac and had a Serotonin Reaction. HORRIBLE. DO NOT MIX this with SSRIs. My doctor should have known better.
      Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Not Working
OCD is NEUROLOGICAL, thinking about it doesn't cure it, IMO.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
Best thing so far, that I can tolerate. This drug also helps with my migraines.
      Prozac Somewhat Helpful
My OCD nearly completely disappeared BUT I had so many side effects that I had to go off of it.
      Clonazepam Working / Worked
Only take it once a day to avoid having to take anti anx drugs PRN. Works OK regular antianx drugs cause me to do weird things in my sleep that I cant remember. Clonazepam doesnt do this. I take a REALLY low dosage.
      Lithium Not Working
I was given this 20 years ago when my doctor ran out of options. Didnt help my mood swings didnt help my chronic pain didnt do a damn thing for the OCD or the depression and made me so nauseous that I would rather have the symptoms....
