About Me
Sorry for the broken english : I'm french. I'm 50 years old, diagnostic for acromegaly on spring 2008, followed by surgery. Half the microadenoma is still there. It was a choc to discover I had a desease for ever. Medical care doesn't include the psychologic dimension of the desease, which is not small. As my Endo said "What are you complaining for, you are not in a wheel chair !". Sometimes the wheel chair is hidden in the head and it is not confortable. The blogs and support groups are VERY helpfull : thank you to all the participants. Didn't begin any med treatement. Surgery was an easy decision, med for ever is something I can't deal with until now but I do regular checkings at hospital. Trying natural ways to improve (nutrition...) and it does help a lot. Out of the puffy face, most other effects disapered. Also began a long inquiery to try to find out what happened BEFORE the adenoma (the causes), as scientific responses are mostly around the GH. Have no idea if it will be succesfull, but the proverb says "The only lost battles are those we didn't fight". And it keeps mind on a positive attitude. Wanted to add something about my social life and job, but for the last year, wasn't very active !

For the non francophones: Hello Berthe and welcome. As Trina said, I speak French and CoolCat, too, but your English isn't bad at all. It's sad to have to meet under these circumstances, but I'm very happy to have found this site. I hope that you will find a good support, too. Rose

Welcome to Daily Strength. We do have lots in common. You will find friends here, people that know what you are going through. Acromegaly is a terrible disease but I have found that we must be as positive as possible and take one day at the time. I admire you and your efforts to control acromegaly with your diet. I am going to try your suggestions. My endocrinologist did suggest a low carbohydrate diet as well. Welcome to our support group.
