Hey there smart red head. I am newly diagnosed (July 1) and am out on short term disability (DVT/PE). I know that with the way I feel, I can't work at my job which expects 150% 50 to 60 hours a week. So for the long term I am concerned too. I see that the recovery process for many of us goes on for quite awhile. I know it would feel good to be at work, less time to think about my health and less time to worry about money. That being said, I know it is more important for me to heal. So I guess my advice to you is to do whatever helps you recover is the path to follow. Wish I could win the lottery and take all of our financial concerns away. Hang in there and do what is best for you. Hope someone else with experience will give you some advice. Take care OK?
Hi Smartredhead!
Just sending you a ray of sunshine to brighten up your day. Your story is so similar to mine last year! Just remember you an get through this but be assertive with your doctors. 12 months ago I never thought that I would be able to go back to work or visit my son and his family who live a 7 hour plane ride away - but I've done both this year! Good luck - Sandi x
Thanks Hon , I'm proud to call you my friend and online family HUGS Ferr
Thank you for your kindness. We are hangin in.. I hope you are well also. take care!
Your story looks a lot similar to mine. I had a DVT w/bi-lateral PE, spent a week in the hospital, spent a week at home, and then returned to work. I couldn't believe the anxiety I had. It took me a week to get in my car to drive to work (which is five miles away) without crying out of pure fear. It's normal, and yet the doctors don't really prepare you for it. You may want to talk to your physician about anti-anxiety medication, just to take the edge off for a short period of time. Hang in there. It will get better. Take care!
