      I’m 27 years old and have always been healthy. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in Nov 2008. I had dropped 16lbs in a month while eating everything and I shook violently for no reason. My heart also sped up with a resting rate of 105bmp. I couldn’t sleep at night and had headaches and body aches. I went for my RAI treatment, after several medications didn’t work, on Dec 19, 2008 and was recently put on Synthroid. Trying to get through this with all the unknowns-one day at a time.

      Treatments

      Methimazole Not Working
      I never had a rash with this, but if I would even lightly scratch my arm or face, I would get this angry red scratch mark that would last up to 30 minutes. It got so bad that I was using scissors to scratch between my fingers and toes and didn't care if I looked like a monster when I walked out of my office!
      PTU Not Working
      Made my hands and feet swell up like watermelons after only a few days.
      Radioactive Iodine Working / Worked
      I had my treatment on Dec. 19, 2008 and have only been back once for bloodwork. My doctor said that it appeared to have done it's job and she started me on Synthroid.
