I discovered I am the wife of a sex-addict on Easter 2008. While that was the worst day of my life believe it or not it has brought along with it some treasures. I do have a relationship with Jesus Christ but hope that will not prejudice anyone, as I only hope to honestly share what has worked for us and learn from others in this situation. It was my husband's idea to save the marriage, seek therapy and to take polygraph tests for the rest of his life. This is why I am here.

I really love the info you wrote on Irish's "Lie detector" post. In particular i found the information on a "Helicopter mum" very interesting in deed. I thought it could be a great topic for the SO's to talk about, and recognise (especially the ones in relationships going nowhere, but staying for kids sake)
Are you able to copy an paste your info, to a new discussion, so not to take the shine off Irish's issues, or get lost amongst her discussion? I think this is great stuff, and a very important one to share with all.

Hi, I am a wife of a sex addict. We have been married for 11 years and have two sons, 8 years old and 6 months old. Prior to finding out about my husband I thought I was the most fortunate married woman around. We were best friends. I trusted him fully. Before I married him I thought I took all the steps a smart woman would do to insure a happy marriage to a faithful, loving husband and father. Obviously, I was delusional. He had sex with over 65 prostitutes during our marriage.
Treatments
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- Trauma work with therapist Cara Weed who works under and is certified by Pia Melody. I will soon be doing this work again but this time with my husband. It was amazing. I now have tools to deal with overwhelming emotions. This is the real deal! My husband is a new person after his trauma workshop as well. He deals with his anger so much better. I think we are both "grown-ups" now. While we will always need to continue this therapy throughout our lives, just one workshop has done wonders.
