      Had cancer in my appendix in Jan 2007, developed an abscess and fistula into my bowel after my first chemo session, post chemo CT scan found multiple PE in both lungs, subsequent blood tests led to a diagnosis of protein S deficiency and now on Warfarin for life. Now taking a career break and on an 11 week ski instructor training course, and so far have attained CSIA level 1 standard. my ski course blog - http://www.mhbroughton.com/ski_course.html

      Treatments

      Coumadin Working / Worked
    • Close Colon Cancer
      Stage: IIIB (T3-4, N1, M0)

      Cancer was in my appendix, no real symptoms other than occasional "upset stomach", presented with some symptoms of appendicitis so had appendectomy they found the tumour and did right hemi-colectomy.

      Treatments

      5-FU Working / Worked
      worked but seems I am mildly allergic to it, caused some hypertension and a rash
      Chemotherapy Working / Worked
      no major side effects a little nausea, a little diorrehea, sensitivity to cold, in the end peripheral neuropathy terminated chemo a little early
      Oxaliplatin Working / Worked
      peripheral neuropathy caused chemo to finish about two-thirds of the way through
      Surgery Working / Worked
      Xeloda Working / Worked
      was very allergic to the tablets and only had one course, caused a very bad rash and hypertension.
