Jon, I love to read your hugs & your messages. It sounds like that Easter parade would be a treat and maybe someday I'll experience it myself. Today I finally called Dr. EZZAT's office. He DOES see patients from the USA. I have to have a referral and send him a ton of documentation and then wait to see what he decides after he reviews everything. His office would call me and set up the appointment. So there is hope. On that note, I hope you are doing well. Hugs, Rose

Hello Jon: I also see Lori, but usually every 3-6 months. Pegvisomant works very well for me, as it has made my IGF1 level normal. The only symptoms I have experienced with pegvisomant are occasional headaches and shoulder pain. I was on Sandostatin prior to my first surgery in 2007. I had a second surgery in 2008 for residual tumor. I am officially tumor free, but there must still be cells floating around for my hormones to have not returned to normal. Take care, Mish

Hi Jon: Thank you for your message. How are you feeling these days? I have my good days and bad days. My acromegaly is under control with pegvisomant which seems to have little side effects, so I am lucky from this perspective. Are you a patient of Dr.Ezzat's? Take care, mish

Hi Jon, They're here! They finally arrived and the red-winged black birds came, too. I was at Grosse Pointe Farms and Saint Claire Shores so I saw the Lake with the ice finally melted, too and lots of water birds active while I was there. But seeing the robbins and the red-winged black birds is a big deal for me. I guess the next big deal will be seeing lilacs and peonies, but that will take a few more months. I'm going to try to find some time to call Dr. Ezzat's office this week, just to ask about consulting with him. I hope you are all doing well. Take care & hugs. Rose

Close Acromegaly
The first symptom of Acromegaly that I developed was that my upper and lower jaw shrunk, and I required orthdonic work (removal of one tooth from each jaw, and braces). This delayed my diagnosis by four to five years. Although a number of medical professionals began asking the right questions, as soon as I told them my jaw had shrunk, they immediately dropped that inquiry and looked for other causes of my other 20 to 25 symptoms.

- In my case 75% of the tumor was removed by surgery in January 2003. Dr. Ezzat prescribed Sandostatin LAR 30. I receive a shot every 4 weeks. Sandostatin has successfully prevented the tumor from growing again and suppressed the small excess growth hormone that is still being produced. I had many symptoms during the approximately five years prior to the diagnosis but they virtually disappeared overnight following the surgery and have been suppressed by the Sandostatin shots ever since.
