    • Close Back Pain

My back pain is actually the most manageable of my chronic pain issues. It's all low back and flares up dramatically when I sleep on a flat mattress. This pain has driven me to sleeping on a recliner almost every night. I'm sad about that. I miss my bed.

      Treatments

      Cortisone (Injection) Not Working
This did not work for me on my chronic abdominal pain - after five series of trigger point injections - I stopped this.
      Fentanyl Working / Worked
50mcg patch every other day. This does not ever take away pain completely, but dulls the intensity of the pain enough to allow other meds to work without having to take maximum dosages.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Used to take Lortab but they eventually became less effective, so switched to Percocet about 5 months ago....still need 4 doses a day every day to function, but good for overall pain management.
    • Close Chronic Pain

I have had nine abdominal surgeries and my chronic pain primarily stems from the adhesions throughout my abdomen which keep my organs/intestines bound up. Norman digestion and body functions cause pain. I also have some scar tissue which causes my muscles to adhere to my abdominal wall so typical movements can cause pain. This led to me to a pain specialist when there were no more surgical options. My pain is getting worse and now my joints ache, my pelvic joints/low back hurt every day.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Not Working
I tried this but became more depressed and felt very dark/sad/hopeless while taking it. Now, I'm taking Lexapro instead.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
I took Lortab until it became less effective. It worked well, but I built up a tolerance over time.
      Lidoderm Somewhat Helpful
This works sometimes depending on the source of my pain.
      Lyrica Somewhat Helpful
This worked a little, but not enough to make the side effects worthwhile. I hated the weight gain, swollen joints and the way I felt on this.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
I take this 4 times/day for ongoing chronic pain in addition to Fentanyl patches. Activia Light helps with the constipation side effect.
      TENS Considering
I have been offered this by my Doc - haven't decided whether to try it or not. It won't prevent pain and is only helpful while you're using it --- so I'm not sure it will help much since I still work full time, etc.
