I'm a single mom of 3, 2 with ADHD/ADD, one of which may also be bipolar. I gained my BS in Biology about four years after my divorce from abusive and bipolar man, and currently work as a receptionist with ambitions of returning to school one day for my masters degree.

Close ADHD / ADD
Myself diagnosed with ADD as a child, I wasn't surprised when my dangerously overactive middle child was diagnosed ADHD at four, and my youngest was diagnosed ADD at 6. A very recent visit to a new psychiatrist brought in the possibility that my ADHD child may be bipolar as well.
Treatments
- Adderall Somewhat Helpful
- Ryan was four when the doctor started him on this - he did great for preschool, but when I picked him up it was wearing off at a fast drop. by the time we got home he had fallen into a traumatic/dramatic screaming-kicking-biting-throwing-wordless state which kept up until about 8 oclock. then all the sudden it would lift and the normally nonverbal boy would bloom into a happier chatterbox until about one oclock at night. The doctor suggested giving him a higher dosage to compensate.:-(
- Concerta Working / Worked
- Both boys are on that now, they are able to sit still and pay attention in class but have a much milder comedown at the end of the day than adderall.
Close Parents of Children with ADHD
Having two boys, one with ADD and one with ADHD (not to mention ADD myself) I'm looking for parenting skills and advice on how best to deal with the issues I meet in everyday life.
